Overview

Osea Island is an inhabited island in the estuary of the River Blackwater, Essex, East England. It is approximately 550 acres in size and is connected to the north bank of the river by a causeway, covered at high water.

The Manor House is a grand Edwardian seaside residence with panoramic views along the beach and over its original salt water pool built in 1903.  The interior has been lovingly restored incorporating style with modern comforts.  Set over three floors and it also has extensive grounds, a walled garden and a private salt water pool. On The Coast you can settle back into Osea’s unhurried pace with its south facing beach properties looking out onto spectacular views across the estuary. Silence is possibly the islands biggest luxury and with an absence of street-lighting, traffic and aircraft noise you may sleep deeply and awaken refreshed to the sound of birdsong. On the south side of the island is the turreted Manor House, the former clinic, now converted into a residential recording studio and wedding venue but also great for a big family get-away. In the 1980s and 1990s, the homes on Osea were let to a variety of bohemian tenants, including painter Luke Elwes, renegade ex-spy David Shayler and music producers where bands from the Rolling Stones to Adam Ant have recorded here.
